The CBM Story

A club shop, run by a club cricketer, from Somerset.

CBM Cricket is a small workshop in Somerset, run by Craig — a club cricketer with a long reputation for fixing bats and an even longer one for spotting which bats are worth fixing in the first place.

We don’t make the bats. We pick them. The makers we work with are the ones whose work we’d play with ourselves — and we have done, in the Somerset Cricket League, all summer, every summer.

What follows is how we got here.

2024

The garage years.

CBM Cricket began in a humble garage workshop. Craig was refurbishing an increasing number of much-loved cricket bats for his teammates — and later opponents — in the Somerset Cricket League. Seeing big-brand bats fail at club level, he set out to source alternatives that could stand up to the rigours of club cricket and offer better value. Quality over volume was our founding principle.

Beyond the bat.

The same conversations that led players to ask Craig about bats started bending towards pads, gloves and keeper kit. So we started applying the same eye there too — trialling, comparing, and stocking only the protective gear that we’d be happy taking out to the middle ourselves.

2026

A standard of trust.

CBM bats and kit now turn up in club bags well outside Somerset — and in a few professional ones too. The reputation isn’t built on marketing budgets; it’s built on bats that play how Craig says they’ll play, and gear that stands up to the season we said it would.

What we’re trying to do

Get a properly chosen bat into the hands of every cricketer who deserves one — without the badge tax. Stand behind every piece of gear we sell. Keep the door open if it doesn’t work out.

Where We Sit

A club shop, run by a club cricketer.

Most of the players we sell to are good Saturday-league batters chasing the right tool for the job. We’re one of them. The conversations are honest, the prices are honest, and if a bat we’ve sold isn’t playing how it should, you bring it back and we sort it.
